Ecokhedva 2016 Summer Eco-Camps by EcoVison

Throughout  June –August 2016  Ecovision organized a series of EcoCamps in the following protected areas of Georgia: Kolkheti National Park, Borjomi-Kharagauli  National Park, and Tusheti National Park. EcoVision with the support of “Mokalake” a Georgian civil society organization  arraigned   summer camps for about 400 school children. Participants of ecocamps  were the winners of  various eco-quiz competitions and contests marking the dates on environmental calendar  that traditionally take place within the SPARE program, and also the winners of  Tbilisi City Olympiads  organized by Moklalake.  Integrated programs were developed for Ecocamps  bringing together educational components, thematic trainings,  research and  filed laboratory works, ecotourism in the wild areas, thematic lectures, various quiz competitions, and even the extreme sports such as mountain baking,  rafting and zip-line.  Well-known environmental experts provided lectures on various thematic issues: biodiversity,  alterative energy resources and energy saving,  climate change, and waste management. The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia Gigla Agulashvili welcomed  ecocamp participants at  Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park and introduced rangers who provided a training on setting and use of camera traps. Environmental proponents  enjoyed very much of  the masterclasses on  taking photos  and documentary shootings. The goal of  informative-educational programs was to foster young generation with ecofriendly skills though   raised public awareness on the issues of climate change, integrated natural resources management,  alternative energy resources, environmental security and social accountability.
